    In celebration of the NFIP’s 50th Anniversary, and in coordination with Union College, the State of Nebraska, FEMA Region VII, and Stantec, you're invited to attend a free floodplain management seminar on making Substantial Damage Determinations in a post-disaster environment.

    This seminar will be held from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm on Wednesady, May 30 at the Sawnee-Porter Care Conference Room at Union College (3800 South 48th Street, Lincoln, NE).

    The course is designed for Floodplain Managers, Community Planners, Elected Officials, and anyone who may need to be involved in property evaluations in their community following a disaster.

    For CFMs, 6.5 hours of continuing education credits are pending ASFPM approval for this course.

    NFIP For Insurance Agents
    Presented by the National Flood Insurance Program, Papio-Missouri River NRD, the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources, and the Nebraska Floodplain and Stormwater Managers Association (NeFSMA).

    This presentation will give a broad overview of various aspects of the NFIP as it relates to Flood Insurance Policies. Attendees will gain a basic working knowledge of NFIP rating, claim coverages, and mitigation techniques. There will also interactive exercises, where participants will be given various rating elements and shown how to determine the lowest floor and identify the proper rate.

    This course provides 3 hours of Property and Casualty Continuing Education as well as meets the 3 hour requirement to sell NFIP policies in the State of Nebraska.

    The Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) exam will be offered in Omaha on January 31, 2018 at the Papio-Missouri River NRD (8901 S. 154th St., Omaha). We will offer a study session beforehand. The schedule is below:

    8:30 – 12:00 – study session

    12:00 - 1:30 – lunch on your own

    1:30 – 4:30 – Exam

    For more information on applying for and preparing for the exam, see the following links. Please note that all applications to take the exam must go through ASFPM and be received two weeks prior to the exam date. If you are not on the ASFPM approved list, you will not be able to take the exam. Applications need to be submitted by January 17, 2018 in order to be considered. Costs for the exam are lower if you are an ASFPM member, however, you do not need to be a member to take the exam.
